    AIS11 SEMIFINALS TWIST:

The Top 24 theme is Producers’ Choice. The contestants will submit a list of (presumably ranked) songs, but Nigel and Company will decide on the final tune that they sing live.

    AND:

There is now one extra Boys’ Semifinalist! One of David Leathers, Jermaine Jones, Richie Law, and…Johnny Keyser will be returning!

Gonna make a gut call for Johnny, since all of the other three were Top 42, while he was cut in Las Vegas. Why would he be the only one of the four to skip SFYL? He’s so in.

I would be surprised if you’re right, considering he’s an actual threat and buried far back as an elimination. But it’s not like they can’t disregard all that.

Yeah, I just thought of Carmen Rasmusen in Season 2. She was cut prior to the Green Mile (or whatever it was like way back then), but still returned.

FINAL Boys Segment: David Leathers, Jr. vs. Eben Franckewitz.

They both sang, and they both sucked. But out of the two, David is the only one I’ve been fine with previously (in Las Vegas).

He’s OUT, while the other terror is IN. Oh joy. Beelzebieber.

FINAL Girls Segment: Ariel Sprague vs. Hollie Cavanagh vs. Shelby Twenten.

Hollie was shouting the majority of the time.

She’s IN, while the other two are OUT. And this marks the first season without a black girl in the Top 24. Oooof! Shelby is an emotional mess.

No mention of her prior existence on this show, and she actually got screentime. (The sign of memorability!)

    Whoops! Forgot the montaged ones:

Hallie Day, Chase Likens, and Aaron Marcellus are shown.

    All three are IN.

    Jermaine Jones is up twenty-fourth.

He gives a Broadway-esque performance. No point really critiquing it.

    He’s OUT.

This is where the show makes it feel like someone is gonna die.

    Deandre Brackensick is up twenty-third.

He gives a nice performance of “This Woman’s Work”. Falsetto is lovely. I actually like how he sounds without the falsetto though, so I hope he accentuates that more. It’d be preferable.

    He’s IN.

    • Boom Fiyah! 5:38 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

The distinctiveness of the falsetto is kinda undeniable. That said, could you have a more predictable choice? It wasn’t exciting.

Yeah, not at all. All week, Jashala’s been proclaiming he’s got a bit of Maxwell, and lo and behold. Hoping for some variation on lives. I think he has the potential to go about midway into the competition though.

    Skylar Laine is up twenty-second.

Hm, not her best performance. I liked Kellie Pickler’s performance of it more. Skylar was grunting it rather harshly. I like her well enough though.

    She’s IN.

I thought it was a bit overdone, but not actually in that way that so many of them have been. But I still think she has a ton of promise.

    Scott Dangerfield is up twenty-first.

    Miserable crap.

    He’s OUT.

    Shannon Magrane is up twentieth.

Haha, soulless diva forgot her lyrics in Hollywood. GOOD.

She grunts and croaks through some song as blandly as ever before. It’s…blah. Shannon Migraine. Puke.

    She’s IN.

Lmao this argument has been a hilarious read, since I know who both debaters are lolol.

    • Boom Fiyah! 5:20 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

She’s the most oddly dated contestant on the show, in a way. That said, it could have been much worse.

    • Weedy Spyze 5:16 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

I actually thought she sounded somewhat good here, oops. Of course I already forgot it, so whatever.

      • uh 5:17 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

        She did sound good.

        • Tender Puppy! 5:17 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

No, she did not. She sounded mediocre.

          • uh 5:19 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

No she did and that’s too bad, she’s in the top 24. Guess you’ll have to deal bwahaha.

            • Boom Fiyah! 5:19 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

              Yes, we will.

            • Tender Puppy! 5:21 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

Yes, “she did”, sound mediocre, thank you for the confirmation that I am correct.

And you know who else has made previous Top 24s? Sanjaya Malakar. Tim Urban. Amy Davis. It is hardly proof of jackshit.

Besides, she’s fodder. And whenever she finally disintegrates into Idol oblivion, you will have to deal. Bwahahah.

              • uh 5:23 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

Yawn, comparing her to Sanjaya or even making that comparison is laughable at best. Yes, I get why you used him as a comparison as someone who made it through who is all that but to act like her talent is too that vein is reaching. I don’t think she is contrived at all and actually does have soul. It’s not over the top, but I buy into it. Her song choices on a personal level have surprised me and I enjoy it. I am not surprised you don’t like her, its expected actually.

                • Tender Puppy! 5:28 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

Who said she was contrived, dumbass? You’re putting words into my mouth. Everything she’s done though has been vapid and bland. She has horrible stage presence and no emotion, yet she tries to sing big ballads with a constipation face. She’s the lovechild of Haley Scarnato and Ayla Brown = that is to say a completely useless female.

Eh, let’s tone down the language a bit. Clearly, I don’t think there’ll be an agreement on the major point there.

                  • Boom Fiyah! 5:29 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

That said, appreciate the point that making the T24 is no indication of quality, because it is definitely not.

                  • uh 5:31 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

lmao calling me a dumbass? Uh alright no need to be a tool because I disagree. lmfao just ignore me since you seem so riled up. Sounds like a fantastic plan. If not I’ll be ignoring you anyways, I never once called you any names for fucks sake.

                • uh 5:29 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

And no I didn’t mean she sounded mediocre, I meant “no she did” as in no she sounded good (imo of course) but that is that. We all have opinion. Some people shit themselves over people who sound awful to me and vice versa, we all like what we like of course so it is what it is.

                  • Tender Puppy! 5:32 pm on February 23, 2012 Permalink | Reply

Exactly, so get over the fact I think Shannon is blander than a supergroup of IBWs (Lakoda Rayne?). We all have opinions!

    Jeremy Rosado is up nineteenth.

His voice is pleasant, but blah. That being said, the lack of VOLUME is almost refreshing. But he’s sort of like…this season’s Jovany Bareto, which is to say: surprise WC filler slot; no chance of the finals.

I will forget every lyric of this.

    He’s IN.
